First Circle Camp

First Circle Camp is the first camp in the series of survival training camps for adults from the age of 18.  First Circle camp designed to prepare, challenge, and educate you in the protocols of wilderness survival.  Learn to survive when the need arises, through practical application and time honored survival techniques.

As a participant in this six-day wilderness adventure, you will engage in hands-on learning while building a solid foundation in the mental, physical, and self-reliant skills necessary to live and thrive in primitive wilderness conditions.

The First circle camp is designed in such a way that you do not have to be in great shape to attend.  We are not a boot camp and make our camps accessible to as many adults as possible who want to learn the skills of wilderness living and get back to the beautiful outdoors.

The Sacred Four of Survival: shelter, water, fire, and food are the necessities we must have in order to provide for our most basic needs.

First Circle instructs in survival skills that work and are simple to apply in all survival situations.  Beginning with the science of shelter to utilizing the benefits of wild plants, for foods, tools, and medicines, First Circle gives you the information and experience you need.

Number one in the sacred order of survival is shelter.  Our body is our first concern in a survival situation, knowing how to protect and shelter it from the elements is crucial.  We cover shelter in the most basic sense and add advanced techniques for more extreme conditions.

Without good fresh water to drink, our body’s can have a difficult time of it.  Water is number two in the sacred order of survival, you will learn how to locate, filter, and purify water.

The ability to make fire is the third order of survival.  The art of fire making is critical and a life saving technique that must be mastered for wilderness living and survival.  We teach various techniques of fire making including the bow drill friction fire in this camp.

The fourth order of survival, knowing how, what, and where to harvest food in the wild.  Even more important is learning what wild plants, animals, birds, reptiles, and insects can be healthy fare for our wilderness repast.  We do not trap or snare live animals at camp, but you will learn the techniques, and learn to prepare, preserve, and cook wild foods.

Tools are an important part of our survival kit.  From sticks to darts, clubs to rock, snares and deadfalls, learning how to create and use these tools will be a big part of camp.

We cover the art of orienteering/navigation and path finding.  Finding your way around and through the mountains is critical knowledge to have if you have lost your map and are without a compass.

First Circle introduces you to the art of flow and movement as well as sign tracking, wildlife behavior, and the art of seeing.

First Circle is available to men and women starting at 18.  This is a great camp for folks who have never camped before, and for novice or experienced backpackers who want to learn how to be prepared in a survival situation far from the trailhead.  We recommend our camps to hunters, experienced outdoor men, and women who suddenly realize that extra survival skills might come in handy sometime.

Lifesong Wilderness Adventures deepens your connection with nature, builds self-reliance while energizing and rejuvenating body, mind, and spirit.  Education is knowledge and knowledge is empowering!
