Two weeks of hiking, exploring, primitive survival skills, and camping.  Rugged and starkly beautiful, if your a teen – age 16 & 17, our wilderness camp is where you want to be this summer!

As a parent, you want a personally empowering and fun camping experience for your son or daughter. At Lifesong we understand this and do our very best to make the experience an exciting, educational adventure; where your son or daughter learns, “honest to goodness,” life skills they will continue to use long after leaving camp. Visit our Teen Summer Camp page! We are offering one adventure for Young men and Women ages, 16-17, for the 2009 season. Ages 16-17, July 05-18 (14 days) We limit the number of campers to 8 per camp session, enhancing each students personalized experience with us. Our Teen Camp is located on a remote property in the Mt. Eddy’s of the Siskiyou range, just north of the community of Mt. Shasta, California.

“Nestled high in the rugged Siskiyou Mountains of northern California our Summer Teen Camp is at an elevation of 6300 feet. Surrounded by towering ridges and awe-inspiring vistas where stands of sweet scented Pine, wildflowers, alpine lakes, and bubbling creeks abound with wildlife. Deer, Eagles, Clark’s nutcrackers and chipmunks are common visitors to our camp. Yes, we do have the occasional bruin in the neighborhood. The raw beauty is spellbinding, this is the real thing.”

Teens: ages 16-17 What will yours learn? Our two week program for this age group follows closely the itinerary of First Circle and Second Circle camps that are for adult students. (See our website for this information.) These two weeks are filled by living with the rhythms of nature, far away from the hustle and bustle of our normal day to day lives. We will be busy campers. I have lots to share, loads to do, and much to explore. Two weeks may seem like a long time, but it’s amazing how quickly the time goes by when engrossed in learning the skills of survival and living close to the earth. During this time I will be teaching techniques on movement, what I call flow. How to move safely and quietly, while blending into the landscape. We will be hiking every day of the two weeks at camp. Part of the second week at camp will be spent on a two day overnight expedition away from the camp proper, bivouacking. Students will learn to identify wild plants, their utilitarian value, medicinal applications, care-taking, and their importance to wildlife. The facilities are primitive and basic, creek water to bath in, and an outdoor kitchen, with a tee pee for group gatherings and council. We serve excellent wholesome, delicious meals even down to the worm soup.  (Just kidding.)  There will be two other volunteer adult staff members besides myself at camp at all times. If you have a son or daughter who has been pestering you for a 2008 summer adventure like this, we invite you to please contact us for registration and availability. Email or call Mark – 530-859-0539 Parents, because of the overwhelming response to this course we are now accepting registration for the 2009 Teens 16-17, two week wilderness camp. We only except 8 students for this adventure. Contact us for availability.
