Texas Wilderness Survival Training Course:
In this empowering survival training, you will learn positive actions to take during an emergency. We will teach you how to apply survival skills during emergency scenarios that we will construct for you during this course. Instruction will cover the ‘What if, when, where, what, and how’, during a survival situation. You will also learn to locate water by identifying trees, plants, and other water indicators while learning to filter water in the field with special attention to purifying bacteria polluted water containing viruses, and other bad stuff.
Emergency Fire Making and Wild Edible Plants
Emergency one – match fire techniques, flint and and steel are great skills to know. Along with fire making, learn techniques for boiling water and cooking food. We will cover plant and tree identification along with how to prepare wild edible and medicinal plants, including other types of foods like insects and mammals that are native to Texas.
Ask yourself this question. Could you survive in the wilderness or a natural disaster for one week without matches, a gun, a knife, food, and the skills needed to survive? Do you really want to rely on someone else to make life and death decisions for you and your families survival when things get tough?
Primitive Hunting Weapons
In emergencies, we often do not have time to create sophisticated hunting tools like the Bow and Arrow to harvest game right away. However we will cover several quick and effective hunting weapons during this course that are simple to make and use.
Our Texas Survival Course will be held November 2010, in the beautiful hill country near Austin TX. More information coming soon!

Hello,
I am considering signing up for your survival course in Camp Strake, November 2009. My only question is what kind of supplies I will need to bring, if any.
Thanks,
Matt (Dallas, TX)

Greetings Matt, thank you for your question.
If you would like to stay at camp Strake throughout the course then you will want to bring a tent and sleeping bag, rain gear, appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather, mess kit, easy to fix meals such as cup of soup, instant oatmeal, and jerky. We plan on having a feast and potluck for Saturday evenings meal. The full gear list for camp will be mailed to you upon your registration. If you prefer not to camp out, then you may want to consider finding alternative lodging nearby.
Do you plan to have any circle camps in Texas in the near future? And is it possible to have a one on one instruction for a weekend?
Hi Natalie,
thanks for your question. We are considering offering a First Circle Camp in Texas 2011. If you are interested in booking a one on one weekend of personal survival training, please contact us through the Contact page of our website.
Thanks again Natalie for your question.
I’m also interested in attending the course in November. My only concern is that I’m vegetarian–will that be an issue? I am a geologist and have done a fair amount of field work, so bringing veggie food for camping is not foreign to me. However I did see that we’ll learn animal skinning, so wanted to make sure.
Thanks,
~Julie
I have a ten year old that loves camping and is particularly into survivalist camping. Is it possible to sign him up (with a parent of course) for the Texas Wilderness Training camp? He is not your normal ten year old. He already hunts and traps (working on this skill) his own food and can identify some edible plants (and eats them), he knows how to start fires and build a shelter, make his own rope, etc…
Do you have space available for two people?
Thanks,
Marci
Hi Julie,
we will have foods available at camp that should suit your vegie prefered palate. We always recommend that you bring snacks, (Dried vegies -fruits, nuts, granola.), and foods that you can heat up with hot water if you have any diet concerens.
Thank you for your question.
Hi Marcie, we may consider your son joining us for camp on the condition you accompany him to camp.
Thanks for your question Marci.
I wish I hadn’t missed this! Are there any more 3 day courses planned in Texas in 2010 and what would the likely cost be?
thanks!
