Teen Wilderness Survival Skills Summer Adventure Camp

That's a mouthful, but our campers concur, teen summer survival skills adventure camp

It is most often described as

COOL, AWESOME.

They say it is like no other camp they have ever experienced.

Waking up stretching mind and body.

▪▪▪▪  SKILLS  ▪▪▪▪

Camp is challenging, tough some times, definitely exciting, and truly an unforgettable adventureTeens are full of energy and creativity and we channel those valuable resources towards survival skills.

Creating friction fire is an individual endeavor and also a team challenge.  Each teen makes his/her own friction fire kit learning how to carve safely and effectively.  As a group they encourage and challenge one another.  The ability to create fire from the natural surroundings is very gratifying, personally rewarding and a unique skill

▪▪▪▪  TRACKING & CAMOUFLAGE  ▪▪▪▪

Wildlife is always a favorite with all our campers.  Tracking is more than the art of visually identifying tracks in the mud.  Once our campers become familiar with the more noticeable tracks and signs, they start to pursue the less obvious.

Teens begin to develop and use more of their senses and can tell what animal has passed by just by the scent trail left behind.  Nature is adept at using all senses in determining encounters with the unknown.  Many animals have a unique odor and can be tracked using our sense of smell.

In nature prey animals are especially cautious and use camouflage and what we call, "Fox walking",  as a means of survivalTeens practice these behaviors in games of skill and technique.

▪▪▪▪  HIKING & BACKPACKING  ▪▪▪▪

Day and overnight hikes are short and long, up creeks, across boulder fields, through forests and meadows, the terrain is ever changing, challenging and fun.  Walk, crawl, slither, jump, teens do it all with courage and determination.

During these excursions a field teens learn about map reading, path finding and wilderness orientation.

Time is on our side and we flow with the rhythms of nature.

Teens rally together and help around camp learning the importance of "leave no trace camping".   Food is very important to our teens and they join in the cooking experience using Dutch ovens and making bread on a stick.

Activities abound at a Lifesong Adventures Teen Camp and you never know what you will encounter from the occasional coyote serenade around the campfire or the deer strolling past your tent.  Laughter and good natured bantering resound throughout camp
