If you are fortunate to find one of these in the wilderness....eat both!

We're cooking up a real feast for you at Lifesong Wilderness Adventures.  Insects aren't on the main menu, but they are a part of your survival training.

John the Baptist ate, "locust's and honey" in the wilderness.  Well, not really.  He actually used the bean from the locust tree for flour and crushed dates for date honey.

Many cultures around the world consider some insects as delicacies.  At Lifesong Adventures you will learn how to capture and prepare an assortment of insects to  be fried, roasted, tossed in the soup or eaten raw.

Grasshoppers come in all shapes, sizes, some only hop while

others fly, and they are worldwide, except the Antarctic.

Grasshoppers are fairly abundant and easily obtainable.

Crickets are another viable source of protein that can be found in

abundance in most areas.  However; they require a little more

  ingenuity to locate and capture.

There are numerous

other options for

protein from the

insect world.

along with a little competition.....

Some lizards like the western fence lizard, (below) are edible as are most snakes.  Cooking is preferable, as snakes and some lizards, frogs, release a liquid that is unpalatable and can cause gastric distress.  This is not a problem when cooked.
