Teens camp out in a pristine wilderness setting. Activities include hiking and backpacking. Teens learn and practice woodcraft and camping skills. For many of our teens catching their first fish is a memory that lasts a lifetime! Your teen will enjoy sleeping under the stars and sharing stories around the campfire.

Will we eat bugs?
Eating bugs and insects is a question teen often ask. Do we eat bugs while camping? The short answer is yes. We always have an opportunity to try out a few edible insects. Fried or roasted on hot a rock. Grasshoppers have become a camp favorite.
Meals
We provide natural and organic food for our young campers to cook up! Mac and cheese, yep, we have that. Our summer camps for teens are a time of transition towards adulthood. Learning basic, yet important self-reliance skills, such as the art and craft of camp cooking. Goes a long way towards developing your child's strength of independence.
Summer Camp Safety
We enroll a limited number of campers which allows for a high staff to student ratio. The high number of staff to students is important for oversight and student safety. Mark's experience as a professional guide for over 24 years ensures your teens are in good and able hands.
Adventure learning in the great outdoors, is the best education you can give your son or daughter!
Benefits of adventure
Youth spending active time outdoors with long exposure is important for healthy development. As an example, the Journal of Adolescence makes a case for the benefits of outdoor adventure.
Making a case for summer adventures
It's my job to make a compelling case for the benefits of camping and spending a month immersed in wilderness. It's also my passion and has been since I was 15 years of age. My reward for this work and my staff of volunteers, is watching our young charges grow into strong and capable young men and women.

Read Nolan's 28-Day immersion experience with us. I believe you will understand the importance of an experience such as this for your son or daughter.
Nolan's testimonial
"My name is Nolan and I apprenticed under Mark Wienert for one month in the summer of 2013, at the age of fifteen, I was reluctant when my mother first suggested the camp, but after speaking with a counselor who gave a clear idea of what to expect, I excitedly decided to go. And I was not disappointed.
Insight into my experience
I would be more than happy to do what was done for me, by providing insight into what your son might experience at camp. For me, the camp opened doors for other adventures and gave me skills and confidence I will carry and build on for the rest of my life. Mark is an excellent instructor and valuable mentor both in the wilderness and in life back home.
Outdoor skills
Your son will learn everything from shelter building to stalking to stewing grasshoppers (which taste a lot like Cheetos). The other food is clean and delicious, and your son will learn how to prepare different meals in diverse ways.
Safety on the trail
Mark places foremost importance on safety, much to the chagrin of younger campers, but certainly appreciated by parents. The situations Mark place us in build strong ties and will unite the most disparate of personalities.
Other adventures
Three months after attending Lifesong Wilderness Adventures, I traveled alone to Japan for 28 days. At the start of my second week, I got stuck in a blizzard on the east coast of Hokkaido. It was a harrowing situation, and even with my training, I thought it impossible to survive.
Conclusion
However, with the experience and knowledge gained through my apprenticeship with Mark along with Lady Luck, I'm here today. I think every person, young and old, should go through this training, as the confidence and perspectives gained are invaluable not only to survival situations but to life in general." ~Nolan B.
